Prayer for the Synod

-
Lord Jesus,
in journeying towards the Synod,
your Church turns her attention to all the young people in the world.
We pray that they might boldly
take charge of their lives,
aim for the most beautiful and profound things of life
and always keep their hearts unencumbered.

Accompanied by wise and generous guides,
help them respond to the call
you make to each of them,
to realize a proper plan of life
and achieve happiness.
Keep their hearts open to dreaming great dreams
and make them concerned for the good of others.

Like the Beloved Disciple,
may they stand at the foot of the Cross,
to receive your Mother as a gift from You.
May they be witnesses to your Resurrection
and be aware that you are at their side
as they joyously proclaim you as Lord.
Amen.

Reflecting on the experience of the synod of the Youth

The Synod, a time of grace Ten days after the end of my mission at the Bishops' Conference on August 31, after completing my move from my Xavier community of Vanves to Toronto for the beginning of November, I arrived in Rome to prepare myself for the Youth Synod which took place from October 3 to 28. I was appointed by Pope Francis to participate as an observer in this ecclesial event that will so mark for me the end of ten years of ministry at the National Service for the Evangelization of Youth and for Vocations. I received this appointment as a very beautiful gift to close this stage of my life, and at the same time  I read it again today as a new beginning, an entry into a new period of sabbatical, opening up new horizons that are still unknown. Beyond what I could have imagined, this synod was an amazing and wonderful experience of the universal Church. Holy Father, Synod fathers, participants and young people The second part of the “Working Document” highlights the link between the fullness of life and the realization of one’s vocation, intended as God’s dream for a person through which one attains his or her happiness in order to contribute to the happiness of others. This being the case, vocational accompaniment is a process, which not only aims at understanding one’s specific life choice, but also living the choice of life in enduring love and commitment.
